Why are tattoos so popular?
TATs are what's happening today. From the super stars to the twenty and teens, a majority of young people, mostly female, have tattoos or have expressed curiosity. During the early 2000s, the presence of tattoos became evident within pop culture, inspiring television shows such as A & E’s Inked and TLC’s Miami Ink & LA Ink. A 2006 study done by the Journal of the
Are your products safe?
We use only name brand paints designed for body art. Acrylic paints are not safe and should never be used as body paint. Our temporary airbrush body paint is FDA approved water based ink and is classed as a cosmetic product. Like many cosmetics with colorants, it may cause an allergic reaction. An active ingredient in Durat Brand Ink is Acrylates Copolymer which is a common ingredient used in styling products to provide hold and protect hair from humidity. This ingredient allows the ink to adhere to the skin for a longer period of time. Our face paint and glitters are also FDA approved cosmetic products. These paints are water based and wash off easily. We use Snazaroo, Mehron and Palmer brand face paints. Our stencils are reusable plastic and are sterilized in Isopropyl alcohol after use. Skin is also cleaned with Isopropyl alcohol before TAT application and cornstarch (baby powder) is dusted on to allow for faster drying time. If you have known allergies to body inks, dyes, alcohol, talc, hair spray or plastic products please inform your artist before they begin painting. Like most cosmetics, these products may be harmful if large quantities get into the eyes, ears or if swallowed.
How is your product different from other body art products?
Permanent Tattoo
A permanent mark is made by inserting pigment into the skin. Most commonly, the tatist uses an electric tattoo machine, which inserts ink into the skin using a group of needles that are soldered onto a bar, which is attached to an oscillating unit. The unit rapidly and repeatedly drives the needles in and out of the skin, usually 80 to 150 times a second. The tatist must asure the machinery and environment are kept clean to prevent infection. Permanent tattoos are forever, however they can be covered or they can be removed by laser treatment which is very expensive.
Henna Tattoos
Henna, Lawsonia inermis, is a flowering plant. The plant is made into a paste and decoratively applied to the skin. It darkens overtime and fades as the skin exfoliates. It can last for a couple of weeks. This artistry has been around for thousands of years and was traditionally applied for a ritualistic or spiritual ceremony. Today it is a artful form of expression as well. The Henna stain ranges from a cherry red to a rich brown. True henna (henna that is 100% pure) is tan or coffee colored and generally considered to be safe. An allergy to pure henna is rare. Be wary of vendors who use Black Henna which contains an additive called Para-Phenylenediamine (PPD). PPD is a chemical ingredient used in hair dye products. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) cites PPD as a contact allergen, and should not be directly applied to the skin as it can cause chemical burns. Henna tattoos may take some time to dry and if you get a large detail design you have to stay in the same position for some time while the tattoo dries to prevent smudging the paste.
Transfers
Tattoo Transfers are small pre-made tattoos much like decals. They are commonly sold in gumball machines and come in all types of colors and patterns. They are applied with water and last a long time. Sometimes when they are being applied they don't completely stick to the skin. Consumers can't change the colors and it doesn't look like a real tattoo.
Is there anyone who can’t be painted?
Due to an infant’s sensitive skin, body painting is reserved for customers over the age of 2. We care about our customers. Sanitation is a top priority. Therefore, we are unable to paint on areas of skin that is dirty, has open sores, infection or acne. We will only paint on body parts that are acceptable for public display.
Does it hurt to get an airbrush tattoo?
No, though it may tickle a little bit! Air passes from a compressor or air tank up through tubes holding paints. The air pushes the paint through an airbrush. You will feel a cool sensation on your skin.
Do you do real tattoos also?
No, just the "real" airbrush kind!
